We have an opportunity to engage culture in a big way

Where many Christians avoid the whole Halloween thing, DJ Kelechi sees it as an opportunity to create something relevant that can engage with young people:

“The social impact is the main driving force for this event. We want to encourage young people that there are fun positive alternatives to everything, including Halloween. We want to literally Light up that dark night and bring the hope that is in Jesus to all who need it.”

DJ Kelechi goes on to say:

“We have the opportunity and resources to put together an event on the same day as Halloween providing a positive alternative for those looking to party on Halloween. It’s an opportunity for us to show the world Light on a ‘dark night’. Not purely to oppose it but to uncover the answers.”

As children of God, we who have been called out of darkness and into His marvellous light are called to proclaim it: shout it, declare it, and share it. So we are going to do just that! We’re proclaiming the Light that is Christ. And we want that light to shine bright.

Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Ephesians 5:7-12 NLT
“Don’t participate in the things these people do. For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret.”
